New Delhi: India’s Election Commission on Tuesday announced elections in five state assemblies beginning on 4 April and will stretch till 10 May. The counting will take place on 13 May. The elections are crucial for the Congress and its allies in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
Here is the scheduled announced by Chief Election Commissioner S.Y Qureshi Elections in Assam in two phases on 4 (62 constituencies) and 11 April(64 constituencies) Kerala, 140 constituencies go to poll 13 April, Tamil Nadu’s 234 constituencies will vote on 13 April, 30 constituencies of Puducherry will vote on 13 April, and West Bengal’s 294 constituencies will have six phased elections beginning on 18 April (54), 23 April (50), 27 April (75), 3 May (63), 7 May (38) and 10 May (14).
The counting of all state elections will be held on 13 May.
This will be the first election non resident Indians can exercise their right to vote.
