Govt agrees to price rise discussion in Lok Sabha
New Delhi: Ending the two-day deadlock, the opposition led by the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has agreed to participate in a discussion on rising prices under rule 193 in the Lok Sabha, which does not include voting, said deputy leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde.
Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar will reply to the discussion in the Lok Sabha while finance minister Pranab Mukherjee will be intervening in the seven hour long discussion.
The BJP-led opposition has been attacking the government on the issue of price rise ever since the Budget session began on Monday and had been demanding a discussion followed by a division of vote. “Our point has been proved and the message conveyed and we don’t want the stalemate to continue," said a senior BJP leader on condition of anonymity when asked to clarify on the change in the party stand.
