Chennai: In an apparent attempt at wooing Congress for the Lok Sabha elections and driving a wedge in the rival camp, AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa today said Congress should dump DMK and dismiss the Karunanidhi government in Tamil Nadu.
“No one can save DMK anymore. DMK’s chapter is over. But, if the Congress thinks that it can lift and rescue DMK from the quicksand it has fallen it will also get caught and sink,” she said at a party function.

In significant remarks apparently aimed at Congress, Jayalalithaa said “those who will come with us will gain and those who will not be with us will lose.”
She said she was giving this suggestion to Congress for the sake of old friendship.
The AIADMK has had tied-up with the Congress in the past and is now allied with the Left parties and the MDMK for the coming elections.
In the last Lok Sabha elections, the DMK-led alliance, which included Congress, Left, MDMK and PMK, swept all the 39 seats blanking out the AIADMK-BJP alliance.
In a contradiction in terms, the AIADMK is strongly opposed to the LTTE, a point that will go well with the Congress whose leader Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by the militant group.
However, PMK, which shares with MDMK strong views on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, is allied with the Congress.
The AIADMK leader said she enjoyed good personal equations with the late Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and that was one of the reasons for her suggestion.
She also said that Congress by snapping ties with the DMK will “remedy the sin” it had committed by aligning with that party.
