New Delhi: There are two sessions with an India focus in Davos. The first is titled “India’s role in the world" and will focus on how political change, structural reform and technological innovation are changing the socioeconomic context of India. It will also focus on how global challenges, national priorities and local trends are reshaping India’s stance in the world. The session will be addressed by commerce minister Suresh Prabhu.

The second session on India focuses on energy and is titled the “New energy equation". It will be addressed by oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan and will examine the future of global energy markets in 2018. Europe and China will also be in the spotlight on Wednesday.

Two leaders from Europe, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, will take the stage to address the WEF.

There will be two sessions on China: one on its ambitious Belt and Road Initiative that focuses on building a string of infrastructure projects to connect Asia, Africa and Europe. A key speaker in this session will be Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

The second session on China will focus on its economic policy.

Two Indian-origin chief executive officers—Satya Nadella of Microsoft Corp. and Sundar Pichai of Google Inc.— will also address the WEF on Wednesday. Nadella will address a session on how technologies from ingestible sensors to artificial intelligence are transforming health in the fourth industrial revolution. Pichai will be talking on the age of artificial intelligence and the future of the open web.

With a major geopolitical churn happening in the Middle East, the WEF has a session on Wednesday devoted to the possible reshaping of the region. Saudi foreign minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir and deputy foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash will be in attendance.
