New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party will begin holding public meetings in its constituencies from Friday as just three days are left for the party to clear the air on forming government in Delhi with outside support of Congress.

AAP leader and MLA from Patparganj seat, Manish Sisodia would be holding four public meeting in as many municipal wards in his constituency from Friday.

“We are starting the process of getting the view of public on formation of government, with the support of Congress, from Friday. I would be holding four meetings in my constituency," he told PTI.

After difference of opinion among the party leaders erupted, AAP decided to go for referendum through SMS, email and interactive voice response system (IVRS).

Meanwhile, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has received around 5.35 lakh responses on formation of government from people through SMS, email and IVRS calls.

“AAP has received around 5.35 lakh responses on to whether the party should form a government with the support from Congress or not," Sisodia said.

Till Wednesday at around 8.30 pm, over 4.25 lakh people had given their suggestions on the issue since party opened the phone lines and website on Tuesday evening.

AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, who was personally against formation of government with the help of Congress but called for referendum after difference of opinion erupted in the party.

Apart from it, the party would on Saturday and Sunday, conduct public meetings in 272 municipal wards and get the opinion of the people.

The party said the exercise to elicit people’s views would continue till Sunday evening and the result would be declared on Monday morning.

Separately, AAP on Thursday got recognition as a recognized state party and thus reserved its symbol of broom in Delhi.

The Election Commission made the announcement on the basis of the party’s performance in the just-concluded Delhi Assembly polls. The election symbol of “broom" will now be reserved for the AAP in Delhi, and its candidates will also get preference of contesting under the symbol elsewhere in India.
