New Delhi: The dengue menace showed no signs of abating in the national capital where the number of cases reached 1,081 on Thursday with 67 more patients testing positive for the vector-borne disease.
Of the total cases so far, 927 have been reported from MCD areas, 117 from NDMC areas and the rest from other parts of the city besides some outstation cases.
The highest number of 183 cases came from MCD south zone followed by central zone (162) and Civil Lines (121).
According to statistics released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the number of cases till this time in 2009 was only four.
The figure was 86 and 22 in the same periods in 2008 and 2007 respectively.
Authorities are more worried about the spread of dengue as the city will host the Commonwealth Games in October, a month which generally sees high prevalence of the disease.
