Pak Punjab governor killed for opposing blasphemy law: minister
Islamabad: The governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province was shot dead in Islamabad on Tuesday because of his high-profile opposition to controverisal blasphemy laws, said Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
The assassin was a member of governor Salman Taseer’s own security team, Malike said.
“He confessed that he killed the governor himself because he had called the blasphemy law a black law," Malik said.
“He has confessed his crime and surrendered his gun to police after the attack," he said.
