BHEL equips most of award-winning power stations

New Delhi: Engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) today said 29 out of the 34 power station, which received the government’s Meritorious Productivity awards for excellent performance, have been equipped by the company.
The awards were given for the years 2004-05 and 2005-06 to thermal, hydro, gas and nuclear power stations for efficient performance, BHEL said in a statement.
All the five power stations that received the Gold Shield for highly productive performance in 2005-06 and six out of the seven gold shield holders in 2004-05 were equipped by BHEL.
BHEL said its thermal sets generated nearly eight% more power in the nine months period of April-December 2006-07 at 268.45 billion Units as against the record generation of 248.89 Billion Units in the year-ago period.
The company is investing over ₹ 12,000 million for modernisation and capacity expansion of its facilities from the current 6,000 MW per annum to 10,000 MW per annum.
