New Delhi: The ministry of road transport and highways on Thursday announced that it has set up a 14-member panel to look into traffic management and safety related issues.
The committee, which will be headed by road transport secretary Brahm Dutt, will recommend appropriate safety standards for the design and construction of India’s highways, as well as look at trauma care and make suggestions on the best way to collect and maintain road safety related data.
The panel, however, is a stop gap arrangement and would cease to exist when the proposed National Road Safety and Traffic Management Board comes into existence, the ministry said in a press statement.
