Delhi has been rocked by protests against the rape of a woman in the past few days. The safety of women in the capital and in India as a whole is at the heart of these protests. According to government data on crimes
against women, the worst maltreatment is at the hands of family. Rape, molestation and sexual harassment put together come second. Further, while crimes against women are on the rise, the record of investigation, trial and conviction has worsened in some cases.
