Ghosts, ghouls and a growing business – that’s what Halloween is bringing in to India this year. As children in India show an increased interest in the foreign festival, costume sellers are looking to cash in on the fun.
But S.R. Wadhwa, a Delhi based local costume supplier, feels the business is concentrated amongst the crème de la crème of society. He says, “Halloween of course is an elite concept here in India, it’s not a mass market for Halloween; only in certain offices or higher circles Halloween dresses are demanded."
With the plentiful accessories, consumers of all ages are spoilt for choice.
“I love the Skeleton costume and the scary mask. I wear and go trick-or-treating to school," says eleven year old Samay Gandhi, resident of Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi.
