New York: Expressing strong support for the Indo-US nuclear deal, an influential Republican leader has asked his party law makers to ensure that this “important measure” goes through the Congress before it adjourns later this week.
“Getting it (nuclear deal) concluded will be one of the strong pillars on which a long term, very constructive relationship can be built between the two countries,” Rudolph Giuliani, former Mayor of New York, said after a discussion on the deal with Chairman of Indian Americans for Democrats Sant Chatwal.
They said the importance of the issue brought them together, who have differing ideologies.
“We are old friends and have been together (on important issues). On an issue like this, there is a lot bipartisan cooperation,” Giuliani remarked.
Chatwal said the accord would strengthen the relations between the two countries and also help India attain energy security and produce clean power.
