Delhi temperature to drop again in next 24 hours
Weather in North India and Delhi will remain cloudy; fog too will make a return
Monday morning saw the minimum temperature fall to record levels in Delhi and North India for the winter season.
However, the minimum temperature increased significantly on Tuesday morning, under the influence of a western disturbance. This western disturbance will move towards the western Himalayan region in the next 48 hours and continue to bring isolated heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday and decrease thereafter.
Hisar which had recorded the coldest morning minimum at -0.8 degree Celsius in 40 years on 29 December, saw the temperature rise up to 9.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday. The minimum temperature in Ganganagar has also increased from 2.5 degree Celsius to 8 degree Celsius.
Night temperatures in Bhiwani and Churu have also risen within a span of 24 hours. Delhi recorded the lowest minimum of 2.4 degree Celsius on Monday in more than a decade. Due to clouding and rain, the minimum temperature has shot up to 10.9 degree Celsius. Wednesday onwards, the temperature is expected to start falling again.
The weather in North India and Delhi will remain cloudy with chances of light rain in pockets. Thereafter, the sky will clear up, bringing down the temperature once again. Cold conditions will prevail across parts of Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh. Shallow fog will make a comeback in these regions, paralyzing road, air and rail traffic.
The weather in East India will remain dry with dense fog at scattered areas. Shallow fog will continue to engulf few places including Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Tripura in the next 48 hours.
