New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party members in the Lok Sabha disrupted the proceedings raising the alleged land grab by Rajiv Gandhi trust in Haryana forcing an abrupt adjournment of the lower house at 11:20am for 40 minutes.
Raising the issue as the question hour began on Thursday, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh said the land, which the trust has taken on lease for an eye hospital should return to farmers.
However Speaker Meira Kumar said that the matter could be raised in the zero hour. But the BJP MPs ran to the centre of the house raising slogans like ”down corrupt government”.
There were reports that Haryana’s congress government flouted rules for giving the land for the trust, of which Congress chief Sonia Gandhi is one the trustees. The RGCT has denied any wrong doing.
