New Delhi: National IT industry body Nasscom on Friday said the Centre’s announcement to initiate the process of forming a separate Telangana state would not affect the IT industry in the long-term.
“We have seen such divisions in the past and in the long term as such there should be no impact on the IT industry,” Nasscom president Som Mittal told PTI.
Mittal, however, added a note of caution saying the bandhs for a long period could impact business. “We have already spoken to the authorities and have also alerted the Union home and IT ministries on this. They have assured us that they are working on it,” Mittal said.
Hyderabad, which is one of the top five IT-ITeS hubs in the country, could lose the advantage of being a favoured destination if the pro-Telangana strife and uncertainty continue to cripple the city. This could also impact the expansion and investments of IT majors.
