New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has decided to constitute a core group for monitoring of public private partnership (PPP) projects related to development of world-class stations, including the New Delhi railway station.
The committee will set up a timeframe for each of the 22 railway stations, which will be upgraded to world-class facilities, a press release issued here on 22 August said.
The committee will also formulate a list of preparatory activities to be completed by the zonal railways before any station is taken up for developing as a world-class one.
Earlier, the committee on infrastructure approved the proposal for completing the first phase of modernisation of New Delhi railway station before the Commonwealth Games 2010.
Besides New Delhi, Agra, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Patna are among the 22 stations to be developed as world-class stations.
