New Delhi: India added 6.5 million GSM subscribers in September for a total of 618.3 users.
The additions in September represent a 22% growth from the 5.33 million subscribers added in the previous month, according to data compiled by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

Unitech Wireless Ltd, or Uninor, added 1.92 million subscribers in September, the highest among all GSM-based mobile phone service providers, the data showed. Bharti Airtel Ltd continued to have the largest subscriber base of 172.8 million, followed by Vodafone Essar Ltd with 145 million subscribers, COAI said.
Idea Cellular added 1.7 million users while Airtel and Vodafone added 900,000 and 840,000 subscribers, respectively
