Coffee exports climb 50% in Jan-May

Mumbai: Coffee exports from India, Asia’s third biggest producer, gained 50% in the five months ended May as demand recovered in the biggest importing countries, the state-owned Coffee Board said. Tata Coffee Ltd and its domestic rivals shipped 129,815 tonnes in January-May, compared with 86,654 tonnes a year earlier, said N.V. Nagarajaiah, deputy director of the Coffee Board. Exports earned $275 million (Rs1,284 crore), 42% more than a year earlier, he said.
