Dubai: Dubai’s exports of non-oil products to India rose 81.3% in 2007.
The emirate’s total non-oil exports in 2007 grew by 43% with exports of Rs1,802 billion compared to Rs1,260 billion in 2006, according to official figures.
“Exports to India soared to Rs59.93 billion in 2007 compared to Rs33 billion in 2006, an increase of 81%,” a Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry release said on 23 January.
After the erratic pattern in 2004 and sluggish growth in 2005, Dubai’s exports appeared to gather momentum beginning in 2006 and reached an all-time high in the year 2007.
Iran and Saudi Arabia emerged as major destinations of exports. More than 75% of exports were destined to Gulf countries and Iran.
