S. Selvakumar appointed director in PMO

New Delhi: Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer S.Selvakumar has been appointed as director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Selvakumar, a 1997 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, is presently managing director of Karnataka Power Transmission Corp. Ltd.

His appointment was approved on Wednesday, according to an official order.

Earlier, IAS officer Brajendra Navnit was appointed as director in the PMO.

Navnit is a 1999 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has also approved three months extension, till September, to R.Ramanujam as secretary in the PMO. Ramanujam, a 1979-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, had joined as additional secretary in the PMO on 1 September, 2011.

He became secretary in the PMO on 1 November of last year. He worked in the PMO between 1997 and 2000, when Inder Kumar Gujral (Janata Dal) and Atal Bihari Vajpayee (Bharatiya Janata Party), respectively, were prime minister.
