CBSE Class XII results: Delhi girl ranks first with 99.4% score

88.58% of Class XII girls passed the 2016 CBSE board exams, as against 78.85% of boys

New Delhi: Sukriti Gupta has topped the CBSE Class XII board exams with 99.4%. Gupta, a student of Montfort School in Ashok Vihar, Delhi, scored 497 marks out of 500.

At second position is Palak Goel from Tagore Public School in Kurukshetra, Haryana, with 496 marks. The third position has been shared by Somy Uppal from St Theresa’s Convent School in Haryana’s Karnal and Ajish Sekar from PSBB Senior Secondary School, Chennai. They both have scored 495 marks.

Students can check their results on www.cbseresults.nic.in.

With a pass percentage of 88.58%, girls once again outperformed boys in the CBSE Class XII board exams, the results of which were declared on Saturday. Boys recorded a pass percentage of 78.85%.

South India has done better than others with the overall pass percentage of the Thiruvanathapuram region at 97.61% the highest, followed by Chennai with 92.63%. The overall pass percentage this year is 83.05%, an improvement over last year’s 82%.

A total of 10,65,179 candidates had registered for the exam this year, a 2.38% increase over 2015. In a statement released in New Delhi, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said that for the second consecutive year, CBSE has declared results of all ten regions on the same day. The duration of examination was from 1 March to 26 April 2016.

Starting this year, CBSE will also provide Class XII digital mark sheets in DigiLocker at www.digilocker.gov.in. The DigiLocker account credentials will be sent to students via SMS on their mobile number registered with CBSE.
