New Delhi: Pharmaceuticals major Lupin today announced a strategic tie-up with universities such as Manipal University, Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS) and Pune University, which will enable its employees to pursue research while working for the company.
“The partnership with the academic echelons will allow employees of the company’s R&D wing at Lupin Research Park to pursue their industry specific research while concurrently working with the drug firm,” the company said in a statement.
These universities include Manipal University, BITS Pilani and Pune University, it added.
Through this industry-academia interface, Lupin employees will be eligible for a Doctorate degree to be awarded by these universities, it said.
“This is a win-win situation for both our people and the company,” Lupin Group President and Executive Director to the Board Nilesh Gupta said.
As a next step, the company plans to increase its reach to top 10 chemistry/pharmacy institutes in India, it added.
Situated at Pune, the Lupin Research Park houses over 450 scientists who work in four broad areas of research and development-- generics research, new chemical entities, advance drug delivery systems and biotechnology.
