Energy | Ministry seeks $4.4 bn more for fuel subsidy

New Delhi: The oil ministry has sought an additional $4.4 billion (Rs196 crore) as compensation for selling cooking fuels below costs in the year that ended 31 March, the government said.
State-run refiners including Indian Oil Corp. Ltd may have lost Rs46,050 crore on the sale of automobile and cooking fuels in the year, Jitin Prasada, minister of state for petroleum and natural gas, said in Parliament on Tuesday.
