National Crime Records Bureau’s data on crimes against women shows that from 2001 to 2011, it increased by 52% in Gujarat and declined by 31% in Tamil Nadu.
Parliamentary replies by the home ministry show that between 2005 and October 2013, there were 520 incidents of communal violence in Gujarat and 260 in Tamil Nadu.
