New Delhi: India is considering lifting a ban on rice and wheat exports, but will take a decision based on how much grains it requires for welfare schemes, the new trade secretary said on Monday.
“I am actively looking at that right now,” Rahul Khullar said when asked if the government was considering revoking the ban.
But a decision would depend on how much grain would be required to run various food schemes for the poor and to meet an election promise to guarantee a fixed supply of grains to them, he said.
