Congress leading in 17 Andhra Pradesh Assembly seats
Hyderabad: Congress and Telegu Desam Party were involved in a neck-and-neck race in the the Andhra Pradesh assembly polls with the national party establishing leads in 17 seats and the principal opposition in 14.
Congress is leading in 17 assembly seats, TDP in 14, Praja Rajyam Party 3, Telengana Rashtriya Samiti in 2, Independents 2 and CPI 1 at around 1100 hrs, the election office said.
Andhra Pradesh assembly has 294 seats.
Chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his rival N. Chandrababu Naidu were leading from Pulivendla in Kadapa district and Kuppam in Chittor district respectively.
PRP chief and Chiranjeevi was ahead of his Congress rival Karunakar Reddy in Tirupati, while he was in third place in Palakole assembly seat in West Godavari district.
