Mumbai: Former Petroleum Minister Ram Naik has demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh call a special session of Lok Sabha to seek a confidence vote after Left withdrew support to his government.
“Finally, the communists have done it. Now the only honourable course for the Prime Minister is to convene a special session of the Lok Sabha and seek a mandate,” Naik said in a statement issued here.
In earlier discussions in the Lok Sabha, majority members have raised their voice against the Indo-US nuclear deal. Singh is therefore dutybound to call a special session and seek confidence of the house, he said.
