Muzaffarnagar: Congress on Tuesday dared Samajwadi Party (SP) to withdraw support to the UPA government at the Centre saying his party never asked Mulayam Singh for his party’s support.
AICC secretary, Pervez Hashmi, who played an active role in party’s revival in UP during recent Lok Sabha polls, said here that the UPA never sought support from Samajwadi Party as the Congress-led coalition had sufficient numbers on the floor.
“Congress has never sought any support from Samajwadi Party and it does not stand on their support,” Hashmi, told reporters, reacting to an earlier comment by senior Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh in which he threatened to withdraw his party’s support from the UPA at the Centre.
“The SP may withdraw its support if it wishes so,” the Congress leader, who has recently been elected to Rajya Sabha from Delhi, said.
