New Delhi: Mamata Banerjee unveiled the Railway Budget today in Parliament. The speech unveiled several measures to benefit low-income travellers, railways employees and included sops for home state West Bengal.

Banerjee has also indicated measures to upgrade trains and stations and augment rail revenue through alternate uses of rail land and station real estate. She has also announced a plan to revive commercialisation of the railways’ nationwide fiber optic network.

Also in the plans were several measures to help young passengers. Madrassa students will also now get student concessions and a new train called Yuva Rath will allow youth to travel cheaply.
