Infrastructure | Coalfields: cabinet approves safety plan

New Delhi: The cabinet committee on infrastructure (CCI) on Thursday approved the master plan dealing with ensuring safety of people living in proximity to coalfields in West Bengal.
The project, which envisages moving locals to safer locations, is to be implemented in the areas that fall within the leasehold of Bharat Coking Coal Ltd and Eastern Coalfields Ltd at an estimated investment of Rs9,657.61 crore.
Separately, CCI also cleared a range of proposals pertaining to highway construction projects across the country. The approved projects include four-laning of Hazaribag; Ranchi section of NH-33, developing Potin to Pangin road in Arunachal Pradesh and constructing two highway stretches between Talegaon and Amravati as well as Pune and Sholapur in Maharashtra.
