Faced with allegations of his kin having links with questionable players, especially DB Realty, Kripashankar Singh has "offered" to quit as the chief of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee. Shahid Balwa wants Radia tapes
Shahid Balwa, promoter of DB Realty group and one of the accused in the 2G scam, has moved the special CBI court seeking a copy of the Niira Radia tapes. The tapes have been crucial in exposing the 2G scam and have been relied upon by the Centre for Public Interest and Litigation (CPIL) while arguing the PIL before the Supreme Court praying for a court-appointed CBI investigation. ‘I had requested DoT to stay 2G spectrum sale’
On January 9, 2008, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), controlled by the then telecom minister A Raja, had allegedly postponed a crucial meeting with the then finance secretary D Subbarao, now the Reserve Bank of India’s Governor, which was to decide whether spectrum should be allocated at the nominal 2001 rate or through an auction that would have fetched a better price.
