Narendra Modi should focus on infrastructure development: economists
Economists say Modi would usher in greater economic freedom and greater transparency to revitalize the economy
New Delhi: At a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s model of development in Gujarat has become the centre of debate in the ongoing Lok Sabha election, economists believe Modi should focus on infrastructure development and price control before trying to replicate the larger transformation in his home state if the party comes to power.
At the launch of a book on Modi’s style of governance titled Centrestage, Sunil Alagh, an image management consultant, said Modi was likely to take some hard decisions rightaway to curb price rise, generate employment in the next 18-24 months as well work to change the perception of India’s leadership abroad.
Bibek Debroy, who was formerly with the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and who first highlighted the Gujarat development model, said Modi would usher in greater economic freedom and greater transparency to revitalize the economy.
