Unlike in the case of other services, the perception of corruption in accessing water supply services among rural households has not changed between 2005 and 2010, according to the CMS India Corruption Study 2010. Overall, one in five rural households surveyed reported either paying a bribe or being asked to pay one, of which the highest number was for irrigation water.
