Voter concern: national security
The recent state elections, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to leverage the Mumbai terror attacks to its political advantage, suggested that national security was not such a critical issue. Not so, says a survey conducted by the Marketing and Development Research Associates (MDRA) in December. It shows that six out of 10 voters believe that national security/terrorism is a key issue, though BJP’s Hindutva philosophy is not getting the traction.
