Modi’s Gujarat cheers BJP: wins one, leads in 18

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi seems to have maintained his hold over the state with the Bharatiya Janata Party winning one Lok Sabha seat and leading in 18 others, while Congress is ahead in seven constituencies.
BJP’s Jayshree Patel defeated sitting member of Parliament Jivabhai Patel of Congress in Mehasana by 21,000 votes.
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani is leading in Gandhinagar.
Three Union ministers of Congress, Shankarsinh Vaghela, Dinsha Patel and Naran Rathwa are trailing.
BJP candidate and former Union minister Harin Pathak is leading from Ahmedabad (West).
Former state Congress president Bharat Solanki is leading in Anand. Congress is also ahead in Bardoli, Patan, Sabarkantha, Jamnagar and Dahod.
