Uddhav says hopeful about Thackeray’s condition
Supporters gather at Matoshree; police step up security
Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray is in a critical condition, doctors treating him told the Press Trust of India on Wednesday.
Thackeray has been ailing for sometime and is under constant medical supervision.
Thackeray’s son Uddhav Thackeray appealed to party workers to remain calm and pray for the 86-year-old leader after a crowd gathered at the Shiv Sena leader’s residence in Mumbai.
“Bal Saheb has strong willpower. We will come out from the problem. Don’t trust rumours. Make peace," Uddhav Thackeray, accompanied by his son Aditya, told supporters gathered outside Matoshree past midnight.
“We are hopeful. You be hopeful. Let’s pray," he said.
Police have set up barricades outside Matoshree. Family members, party leaders and public figures are at the residence.
