The year 2011 has so far attracted $9.42 billion (around Rs 47,000 crore) of private equity (PE) investment in Indian companies across 338 deals, up 40% over the $6.74 biliion across 276 deals in the first 10 months last year. The average deal size also increased from $28.2 million to $33.7 million during the same period.
October accounted for $434.1 million of investment across 31 deals, compared with $305.3 million across 29 deals during the year-ago period. The infrastructure sector topped the chart accounting for 25% of investment during the month, with a deal value of $108 million across three deals. Real estate came second with $90 million (21%).
