New Delhi: The Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Monday joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) fold and announced that the “formidable alliance" would work towards a change in government in the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh.
“With this addition, we are sure to bring an end to the suffering of the common man under the five-year-long UPA (United Progressive Alliance) rule. It is also a step towards ending the SP (Samajwadi Party) and (the) BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) misrule of Uttar Pradesh," senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advanisaid on Monday.
Former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) or JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda announced the formation of the Third Front, an amalgamation of eight parties and touted as a political alternative to the Congress and the BJP. The front would be launched in Karnataka on 12 March. The eight parties include those of the Left, the Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and JD(S).
