ROME : Cars and motor scooters were banned in Rome’s historical center and other areas on 18 February to lower pollution levels.
The ban, lasting most of the day, left residents and tourists to walk, ride bikes or use public transportation as the Italian capital was under a light rain.
There was no exemption for soccer fans going to the Olympic Stadium, but buses, subway trains and cabs were increased. Museums were free across the city.
