The minimum temperature of Delhi and northwest region will increase gradually during the next 48 hours. Fog abatement will start in the region as the night temperatures rise. Dense fog hours will reduce sharply in east India with a rise in day temperatures. Snowfall will increase in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand after the next 24 hours.
The weather in Delhi will gradually change during the next two days as minimum temperatures are likely to rise under the influence of a strong Western Disturbance that will be closing in over Jammu & Kashmir within 48 hours. But fog that is being experienced during morning and evening hours would persist.
Fog will abate during the day as temperatures would be above dew point (the temperature at which condensation takes place) and also due to increase in the wind speed. The winds are easterly over Delhi and the northwest plains. Foggy conditions would continue to be severe in Punjab and some parts of Haryana and Delhi. Partly cloudy to cloudy sky will be witnessed in the northwest region with chances of rain/thunderstorm during the weekend.
The hills in the northwest region will start receiving more snowfall and rain after the next 24 hours. Jammu & Kashmir will receive snowfall at a few places during the next 24 hours. Snowfall would also occur at one or two places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places over Uttarakhand in the next 48 hours.
Central India close to northwest will also experience rise in temperatures and cold wave abatement will continue to take place during the next few days. The southern Peninsula over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and adjoining Maharashtra will witness southeasterly winds but the weather would remain dry in the region during the next 48 hours.
East India is receiving northerly winds that have kept the minimum temperatures below normal but as winds would turn into southeasterly due to being cut off from northerly winds under the aegis of the strong Western Disturbance. The rise in minimum temperatures and the maximum temperatures would help fog and cold wave abatement in east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
