Vyapam case: CJI says satisfied CBI progress
The apex court transferred the probe into the alleged irregularities in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board to CBI in July
New Delhi: Drawing laughs at a hearing of the Vyapam case in the Supreme Court, Chief Justice H.L. Dattu wondered how the series of deaths in the case had stopped once the probe was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“How come the deaths have stopped after we gave the case to the CBI?" Dattu asked.
The apex court transferred the probe into the alleged irregularities in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), also known as Vyapam (from the Hindi acronym for Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal), to CBI in July.
The court said it was satisfied with the progress of the CBI probe.
“We are satisfied with the progress you’ve made. But let’s see what happens," Dattu responded, when attorney general Mukul Rohatgi suggested that the case was almost at its end.
