Hyderabad:N. Srinivasan, president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Friday appeared before a special court here in response to court summons issued in connection with the illegal assets case of YSR Congress leader Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Srinivasan, who is also the India Cements Ltd managing director, is one of the accused chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case.

On Friday, Srinivasan and the other accused in the case appeared before the CBI court, which scheduled the next hearing on 3 December.

The court had on 25 September taken cognizance of a chargesheet filed by the investigating agency against Jagan, Srinivasan and others on 10 September, and issued summons to all the accused, asking them to appear before it on 1 November.

The charge sheet relates to India Cements making alleged quid pro quo investments of 140 crore in companies owned by Jagan, and the consequent “undue" benefits received by the firm in terms of allocation of land and water from rivers Krishna and Kagna from the then Andhra Pradesh government led by late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Jagan’s father.

Jagan and his financial advisor Vijay Sai Reddy were named as the first two accused in the chargesheet, while the others include Srinivasan, IAS officers M. Samuel and Aditya Nath Das, Jagathi Publications and Carmel Asia Holdings Pvt Ltd.

“We have not done anything wrong...it will be proved (in court). Beyond that I have nothing to say," Srinivasan told journalists as he emerged out of the court.

CBI has so far filed 10 chargesheets naming some former state ministers, bureaucrats, corporate entities and businessmen, besides Jagan and his associates in the illegal assets case. Jagan, the prime accused in the case, was granted bail on 23 September after being in jail for over a year. The case relates to investments made by various companies in Jagan’s firms after favours were bestowed on them during the tenure of Rajasekhara Reddy, who was chief minister of the state between 2004 and 2009.
