Kolkata: West Bengal’s governor Kesari Nath Tripathi on Friday spoke out against demonetisation, delivering his address to the state’s lawmakers on the first day of the assembly’s budget session.
In a speech drafted for him by the state government, the governor said the West Bengal government had left no stone unturned in its opposition to the withdrawal of high value currency notes, and that it had done a commendable job fighting demonetisation in the interest of the poorer sections of the society affected by the move.
