SC allows price bids for THDC phase 2 plant
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed the invitation of price bids for Tehri Hydro Development Corporation’s (THDC) phase 2 plant from multinationals Voith Siemens Hydro Kraftwerkstechnic GMBH and Alstom Hydro France.
Bids have to be submitted by the companies within three weeks and the THDC has to take a decision on the bids within three weeks thereafter, ruled a bench comprising justices V.S Sirpurkar and T.S Thakkur

Previously, the THDC had found both Voith and Alstom’s technical bids to be deficient. On 14 December 2010 the Uttarakhand High Court stayed the price bids after Voith approached the court for relief.
The matter was then taken to the Supreme Court, which on Thursday allowed the bids to be accepted in light of both companies having fulfilled their technical deficiencies in the meanwhile.
