New Delhi: Having been given a lifeline by the environment ministry, Lavasa Corporation on Thursday sought six weeks time to arrive at a negotiated settlement on its ambitious hill city project in Pune.
“Lavasa Corporation has asked for an extension of six weeks as Lavasa has submitted relevant documents requested by the MoEF in their final Order dated January 17, 2011,” the company said in a statement.
Lavasa said it had discussed the matter with rnvironment minister Jairam Ramesh and “has asked for time to consider a solution.”
On Monday, Ramesh had said efforts are being made to find a “negotiated solution” on the stalled Rs3,000 crore project in Pune.
“We are trying to find a negotiated solution...trying to find a compromise,” Ramesh had told reporters when asked about his meeting with officials from the Hindustan Construction Company Limited, which is undertaking the township project.
Giving a ray of hope for Lavasa, which allegedly violated green norms, the environment ministry had last week said that it was prepared to consider the project being constructed near Pune on “merits” subject to fulfillment of certain conditions.
The ministry, however, had ordered that no further construction should be undertaken for now.
