Monsoon 21% above average in September
New Delhi: India’s monsoon rainfall was 21% above average in the week ended 9 September. A spurt in rains over several parts of north India brought down the monsoon’s seasonal deficit to 20%, a full 3 percentage points improvement over last week. A recent spell of good rains in India will help the next season crop to be sown from October and harvested in March and April, the farm minister said on Thursday.
“India’s late monsoon revival will help sowing of winter-sown crops," Sharad Pawar told reporters.
