2G scam: CBI seeks Supreme Court nod to file fresh FIR
CBI lawyer tells court that fresh evidence from certain tapes show that certain people accused in the 2G case have been involved in forgery
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday told the Supreme Court that it wishes to file a first information report (FIR) with names of several accused in the main 2G case before the 2G special court.
Senior lawyer K.K. Venugopal, who appeared for the CBI, told the court that fresh evidence from certain tapes show that certain people accused in the 2G case have been involved in forgery. Without naming anyone, he said that certain documents were forged by the accused to disassociate themselves from the company (not named).
The case will come up for hearing on 30 April.
A bench comprising chief justice H.L. Dattu and justice Arun Mishra also recevied a copy of the CBI status report in a sealed cover.
Some of the main accused in the 2G case are former telecom minister A. Raja, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Kanimozhi, DMK leader M. Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu Ammal, among others.
