Assam blasts toll rises to 84
Guwahati: The death toll in the 30 October serial blasts rose to 84 Monday with three more people succumbing to their injuries, an official said.
Two people died at the Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) while another person succumbed to his injuries at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital Sunday.
The devastating blasts had claimed 66 lives and injured more than 470 on the day of its occurance.
Meanwhile, 10 of the injured were released from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury with the Assam government making an ex-gratia payment of Rs50,000 to them.
The state government had announced a compensation of Rs300,000 to the next of kin of those deceased and Rs50,000 to the injured while Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his visit here on 1 November, had announced a central assistance of Rs400,000 to the family members of those killed and Rs100,000 to the injured.
