What are the three things you wish for from the Budget?
Specific funding plan for infrastructure (for instance infra bonds), reaffirmation of commitment to Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act despite risks such as pay commission recommendations, and measures to plug excise evasion.

If you could end one thing, what would that be?
Untargeted subsidies.
If you were finance minister, what would be the one thing outside your industry you would want in the Budget?
Revival of the privatization programme.
What is the one thing you don’t want changed?
The revenue and fiscal deficit targets set at 0 and 3% for fiscal 2008-09.
Which budget disappointed you the most? Why?
FY07 budget—too much emphasis on micro-details, no clarity on the big picture.
One proposal you think is shot down in every budget, but shouldn’t be.
Reduction of fertilizer subsidies.
What would you consider to be inclusive growth?
A guaranteed job or social security benefit for every household in the country; a bank account for every household.
