Kolkata: The agreement on the 10,000 MW nuclear power project at Maharashtra by Nuclear Power Corporation India Ltd (NPCIL) in technical collaboration with French power equipment-maker Areva will be finalized by December.
“The discussion on the contract will finalize the general characteristics of the contract in the next few weeks or the end of this year,” French ambassador Jerome Bonnafont said on Tuesday on the sidelines of a CII interactive session.
He was hopeful about project despite debate on Civil Nuclear Liability Bill and said, “Discussion with government is on.”
Areva will supply two European pressurized reactors (EPRs) of 1,650 MW of a total six in the next few years.
Bonnafont said discussions with Alstom for tie-up with BHEL and NPCIL was in progress.
